MOUNTAIN ASH V. MERTHYR CONSERVATIVE CLUBS.
This, the first encounter between these opponents this season for the Merthyr Borough League Shield, wax brought off at Mountain Ash. Prominent for the winners were G. Williams, T. Worthington, G. Brown, and the worthy bandmaster of the 3rd V. B. Mountain Ash Band (J. Griffiths), while on the other side W. Williams gave a splendid display as also did W. Kelly and A. D. Snooker. Mountain Ash eventually ran out winners on points scored by 63 points, the number of games won being Mountain Ash four and Merthyr four. Mountain Ash are the present holders of the All England Conservative Clubs Challenge shield and the South Wales Divisional Shield, and were runners-up for the Merthyr Boroughs League Shield last season. Merthyr have also won the latter trophy on numerous occasions, while last season they were runners-up for the South Wales Divisional Shield.
