Charges of Cruelty to Animals.—James Moss was summoned for cruelly beating a horse. P.C. 28 D deposed to seeing the defendant beat the animal about the head and nose with hie fist. Defendant was fined 5s and costs.—Frederick Laurence Snooker and George Notting were summoned for illtreating two bullocks. P.C. 66 D said the animals were being driven into a slaughter-house on Lawrence Hill, and they were beaten severely by the defendants. Defendants denied that any unnecessary violence was used, and called evidence to that effect. The magistrates dismissed the case.
