There is money in the idea
The Billiard Review. Wednesday, December 6, 1899
Who will undertake to issue a complete and sensible set of rules to govern snooker pool? So far, the Billiard Association has evinced no disposition to tackle the task. The game is advancing in popularity every day, yet there are scarcely a dozen rooms where it is played alike, and many markers are absolutely ignorant on the subject. A code which would meet with universal adoption would be a regular boon to frequenters of billiard-rooms, and we only wonder that some two or three professionals have not, ere now combined and produced a set. There is money in the idea, boys, and that is what most of you are not overburdened with.
