THE NEW BILLIARD CUE
The Sportsman, Saturday 26 April 1913
The new form of billiard cue which Haverson used the other day in a match against Newman has caused much discussion. About the efficacy of the cue for its particular purpose, however, there is no dispute. Instead of terminating in the ordinary round end, the cue is bevelled down to a broad flat wedge-shaped end, and the player pushes the cue along the cloth and thus is enabled to make his ball easily jump over an intervening ball and strike another. The cue (says the London correspondent of the Manchester Guardian) is therefore primarily designed for the game of “snooker,” but it is obvious that it would be useful on occasion in a game of billiards.
