He is partial to all English games and has even been known to play “snookers”
The Rattle. Shanghai, May 1896. P. 153
“Tiny” is even handsomer than our portrait, his features bearing a marked resemblance to those of an eminent statesman. In disposition he is mild, but dogged, and acts up to his convictions (usually sound ones) at all costs-as witness the perseverance with which he recently sat on a certain gate for an entire fortnight. He is partial to all English games and has even been known to play “snookers.” Handles a good cue and has a cricket style peculiarly his own. Is fond of port and of pulling the legs of his friends. Frequently revokes at whist.
