Christchurch has made several special efforts this week on behalf of the local hospitals in response to the appeal made by the Mayor (Councillor Norman Barnes).
On Saturday there was a flag day, arranged by the Mayoress (Mrs. Barnes), and Mr. W. Padwick, hon. secretary of the Hospital Saturday and Sunday Fund. More than fifty collectors were busy all day long, those in charge of the various depots Ming: The Mayoress (Town Hall). Miss Clarke (Mudeford), Miss Jenkins (Purewell Cross), Mrs. Hunt and Miss Hope (Stoney-lane), Mrs. Ferrey and Miss Snooker (Tram Terminus), Mrs. J. L. T. Williams (High-street), Mrs. Wimbleton and Mrs. Jobbling (Cinema), Mrs. Croucher (Barrack-rood), Mrs. Alec Tucker (Tuckton Bridge), Mrs. Bulstrode (Jumpers and Fairmile), Mias Nora Der-ham (Houseboat, Mudeford). As a result of the day’s effort well over £50 was raised.
