Snookers war scare
Rochdale Observer, Wednesday 27 January 1915
PUBLIC HALL PICTURES.
A capital programme of pictures was gone through for the entertainment of a large number of people at the Public Hall, Baillie-street, on Monday night. The thoroughly topical and exciting film, “Warfare in the skies” is the chief item for the first part of the week. Dealing with the unscrupulous actions of a German spy in the effort to serve his country, it aroused much patriotic feeling. “A clash of virtues” is an exceptionally pleasing picture, and the film named “Padua” describes some extremely interesting scenery in that neighbourhood. As usual, the “Warwick” and “Pathe” series of war films are full of interest. The lighter side of the programme is also of good quality, the pictures “A reluctant Cinderella,” “Spy catcher,” and “Snookers war scare” being responsible for much merriment.
