Snooker is said to have its origin in the land of Rajahs
Referee, Sidney, 20 November 1901
According to an English magazine, our present visitor, “Fighting Mac,” is as good with the cue as he is with the sword. When recruiting in the hills at Simla it is said that he could out most of the officers of his staff at either billiards or snooker. The latter game is said to have its origin in the land of Rajahs, although our American cousins claim it as a product of the land of millionaires, trusts, and “colonels.”
