After hearing much praise relative to the starting of Mr S. Powell it reads to Auckland sporting men awfully funny that the field were slipped with the exception of one horse. Mr Cutts never permitted backers to have such a “snooker,” and he is, according to southerners, about the worst starter in New Zealand.
