No accepted rules for snooker
Billiard Review, 20 Dec 1899
To the Editor of the “Billiard Review.”
Sir,—In your issue of the 13th inst., you say in reply to R. S. Illing that there are no accepted rules for snooker. Now at the Red Lion Hotel, Luton, the printed rules of “snooker pool” are hung up on the wall in the billiard room, and I had the opportunity of writing out a copy, and I have one with me. It says twenty balls arc used in this game. (2) Yellow is placed on the centre spot in the D, (4) brown on the middle spot, (3) green on the pyramid spot, with the pyramid balls close behind, and (5) blue on the billiard spot. The figures at the side of the coloured balls indicate their value.—Yours truly,
George Roberts, Marker.
