Miss Quinn and Snooker Title
Sheffield Independent, Wednesday 21 March 1934
A mistake in reading the draw-sheet caused Miss Margaret Quinn, the 15-yeur old Peckham girl, to lose her title of Woman Snooker Champion. This was revealed to-day when a “Daily Independent” reporter investigated the non-appearance of Miss Quinn at the London hall, where, last night, she was due to meet Miss M. van Noorden in the second round.
Miss Quinn expressed surprise that she had lost her title by default, as she was expecting to meet Miss van Noorden later in the week, but her father re-examined the draw sheet and discovered that he and his daughter had read the wrong column. “There is an end of it,” he said, “Margaret was not there, and she loses the title, but she will probably play again next year.”
