All got away to a good start. Faust lead over the first hurdle, shortly after which he was passed by Snooker. The latter kept in front to the fourth hurdle, when he ran out and took no further part in the race. Faust and Nilgai kept together until the last hurdle was cleared, when the latter drew away, and won a grand race by about two lengths.
