Horse. Snooker. Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News, Saturday 16 September 1899
Business was more lively than it usually is on the last day, and some very fair prices were obtained, though nothing ran into four figures. The first ring was devoted to yearlings, and Mr. Ralph Sneyd did well in finding purchasers for eleven out of his fifteen. The top price of 830 guineas was made by the bay or brown colt by Blue Green out of Pink—“ Joseph’s Coat” or “ Snooker Pool” suggest themselves as suitable names for him—and Captain Bewicke was the purchaser. Then the bay or brown filly by Blue Green, out of Catherine II., made 700 guineas, and Mr. Reid Walker gave 670 guineas for the bay colt by Blue Green out of Lady Villikins. Fourteen of Mr. Taylor Sharpe’s score were disposed of, but, except in the case of the very good-looking chesnut colt by Father Confessor out of Ellen Gurney, for whom Mr. J. A. Miller went to 500 guineas, prices ruled very low.
