Volunteer Shooting Competition.—The result of the recent firing competition in connection with the 4th Hants Rifle Volunteers, which took place on the 11th September, has just been made known. The first prize, in addition to the cup, was £5, and was taken by Sergeant Turner, of F Company, with the following score, the other four prizes being £2 10s, £2, £1 10s, and £1, and were taken as follows :—

In addition to the above, Private Preston, B Company, takes a prize of £1 for the beet score (29) at 200 yards, Sergeant Treat takes a similar prize of £1 for the best score (32) at the 500 yards range, and Sergeant Hibbs also takes a third prize of £1 for the best score (28) at the 600 yards range. The captain of the company to which the winner belongs holds the cup for the ensuing year.
