Snooker always takes priority to billiards

Scene: A billiard room. A couple of players in the middle of a “hundred up.” Gentleman enters, and engages “next table.” Aforesaid players conclude their game, and then agree with others to have a game at “snooker.”—Gentleman (who has been waiting some considerable time): “But I have engaged the table.”—A player: “Yes, my dear fellow, but ‘snooker’ always takes priority to billiards. It is on the book of rules.”— Gentleman: “But not on the book of manners. Good night! “
