Snookers, who is a ladies man
Englishman’s Overland Mail, Thursday 11 October 1906
The last race, the Substitution Stakes, Rs. 200, for ponies 14-1 and under, was won by Mr. Molesworth’s Norma, ridden by Mr. Morris, Mr. Holder’s Topsy III., ridden by Mr. Middleton being second. Although clouds had been hanging about all the afternoon in a threatening manner no rain fell, and we all returned home, the richer and the poorer, quite pleased with the day’s sport. Of the ladies, frocks I am not capable of giving an elaborate description, but Snookers, who is a ladies man, tells me that the prettiest dress by common consent, was that worn by Mrs. Mears, a white net with a small green flowery pattern on it, a becoming green hat to match completing the costume.
