Women’s snooker

Following the dissemination of knowledge about the sport of snooker in Great Britain, the game ceased to be exclusively a male domain. Women billiard players who demonstrated the same skill as their male counterparts were not permitted to participate in major professional tournaments due to the prevailing outdated attitudes towards women and their rights at the time. However, at amateur tournaments and exhibition matches, women competed with men on equal terms. There were those who were related to prominent billiard and snooker players, as well as individuals who independently acquired expertise in cueing and proceeded to compete at the billiard tables despite the prevailing male dominance.
