For the first time in the history of snooker’s pool a player has scored 147, the maximum number of points that can be reached apart from “snookering” an opponent. The player A. Mann, a young Birmingham professional, played at Birmingham, against an amateur. Conceding 40 start, his first break was 56—seven reds and seven blacks; the second was 40—five reds and five blacks; and the third 29, was made by the disposal of the last three reds, three blacks, the yellow, and the green. In his last break he took the rest of the colours.
