The Top of the Table Game

So much has been heard of the “top of-the-table” means of scoring , which forms the chief part of billiards, as presented by the leading professional players, that I make it my excuse for presenting this volume, dealing, as it does, with this side of the game. In a general way spectators of this very close-range play are apt to miss its beauties. The rapidity and concentration of the strokes makes it none too easy to follow. That it is the most refined form of billiards I hardly need to tell. And, for this very reason, it demands a delicacy of touch, a fine judgment and long experience , to cope with the endless changes of position that arise.
