Rules for playing the Various Games of Carom and Pocket Billiards
Billiards is a gentleman’s game at which all contests whether for pleasure or prize, should be dominated by courtesy and sportsmanship. A spirit of equity should prevail. Trickery or unseemly tactics should not be countenanced.
To preserve distinctive character special rules are necessary for different styles of games. The general rules, as printed herein, with the exceptions noted, apply to all pocket and carom games.
Match and championship tables are 5×10 ft. in size.
Play at all games begins at the head of the table, distinguished from the foot by the plate on the rail.
Standard sizes of balls for match and tournament contests are: Carom games, 2% inches in diameter; pocket games 2 ü inches in diameter.
