In a handbook of this kind it is hardly necessary to attempt to set out the origin or development of the various games discussed. Let it suffice that all are universally accepted games, each one of them, indeed, being, if admittedly inferior to the game of English Billiards, at all events well worth playing, and affording an occasional change, to all lovers of Billiards, no less agreeable than desirable.
