Practical Billiards
In introducing this treatise on PRACTICAL BILLIARDS to the public, it is only fair to mention that a considerable portion of its contents had been prepared for publication by a friend of mine, whose premature death prevented his seeing it through the press.
This gentleman, the late MR. FREDERIC HARDY, of Leamington, whose capabilities as a professor of Billiards I had for some time previously been familiar with, consulted me on various details, while he was engaged in writing the work-and, indeed, referred his Publishers to me that I might supervise and correct some of his Diagrams and Designs for Position, in order to render the book more accurate than he deemed it was in his power to make it without such assistance.
