In the compilation of this volume it is necessary to explain that I have not dealt with the series of the game of billiards, but have only endeavoured to place before the reader such information as I consider most valuable to the player, together with a brief history and other matters of interest in connection with the game. I was prompted to compile this work by the constant taking of record breaks, and I hope that this volume will not only be one of instruction, but also of reference. I have collected the contents for many years from all sources, and hope the work will prove useful to all lovers of the game.
