In Melbourne saloons the blue ball, and not the pink, is occasionally placed at the apex of the triangle for snooker pool.

Snooker players will read with interest the following paragraph, which appeared in the London “Sportsman”:—”In Melbourne saloons the blue ball, and not the pink, is occasionally placed at the apex of the triangle for snooker pool. This, it is said, is done so that there shall be no confusing the pink and reds. Are there an extraordinary number of color-blind players in Melbourne, or is it that the hospitality is such as to confuse the players?” A visit to billiard parlors on Saturday proves that the opinion of the newspaper writer is hardly correct. In all the well-established parlors the pink ball is usually in the correct position, but there certainly is a break from the rules in the way mentioned in a number of clubs which have recently established billiard tables.
