Whist and ‘snooker’

I see, too, that Tomkins goes as Deputy Commissioner to Bayaban, and I wonder how he will get on without his whist and ‘snooker’ and what on earth will become of Mrs T when there is not a subaltern within fifty miles, and only the half caste Extra Assistant to talk to, and how on earth poor Bashful will survive at Bhirbabarpur.
