A World’s Record on a Billiard Table.
The World of Billiards. 7 February 1906.
A resident of Cairo, playing what is known as “Australian Snooker Pool,” has completed a world’s record. Here follow the scores: breaks of 311 in three successive breaks, and other breaks of 140, 126, and 128. The final score of the winner was 954. This result is the more remarkable as five of the red balls had been previously taken off the table in order to shorten the game. This constitutes the record above mentioned.
Percy, the “ever courteous” and celebrated marker at Shepheard’s, also completed a record (for Egypt) at Pyramids. lie achieved four breaks : 12, 13, 11, and 11 ; which is most remarkable for the game called u the Chess of the billiard table.”
The table is what is called a match table. The above record shows the capabilities of the players in Cairo during this season. —“The Egyptian Morning News.”
