A “SNOOKER” PROBLEM.
A correspondent writes: a remarkable stroke occurred in a game of Snooker’s pool at Goldthorpe the other day. The striker was seven points behind his opponent, and only three coloured balls were left. He struck at the blue and the white went into the pocket. The blue went careering round the table cut in the pink, and then pocketed the black and followed in. Thus all four balls were pocketed by the stroke. Was the game then finished, and how many points did the striker give away
The striker gave away the highest of the three alternative forfeits—seven, the value of the black. The game was not finished; pink and black should have come up.—Ed.
