A prisoner winning money by playing snooker pool
Bournemouth Graphic, Thursday 05 October 1905
There is an easy swing about “Veronique.” The music is good, the songs are mostly difficult, yet all finely rendered. The comic element is good, in parts clever, and certainly contains not one particle of vulgarity, a charm in itself nowadays. The idea, for instance, of a prisoner winning money by playing snooker pool with a colour-blind warder is really funny, and the laughter at the many witty sallies of Mons. Ie Capitaine was very general.
