A now compilation of the rules of the game, herein called “Four Jolly Snookers”
The Times of India. 25 November 1889
Billiard players in India whore the game “snooker” is so common, will be interested to see in this week’s’ Field a now compilation of the rules of the game, herein called “Four Jolly Snookers,” referring to the four pool balls played, together with the pyramid balls, in the game. Another lot of rules appeared in the Field of June 8 this year, but the former seems from its description to more nearly resemble the “snookers” as known and played on most tables out here. It would certainly be as well to have one authorised set of rules to go by, as at present it is no uncommon thing to find a different game played on most of the club and mess tables one goes to.
